Beyond an infrastructure project, Hidroituango is a development initiative that contributes to the country’s energy mix.
This chapter presents the main technical progress of the works, which have allowed generating units 1 through 4 to be fully operational and the recovery of the southern zone, affected by the emergency that occurred in April 2018, to proceed as planned.
Technical milestones such as the final plugging of the TDD (Right Diversion Tunnel), the completion of underwater works, and the stabilization of the slope at Km 0+900 of the road leading to the municipality of Ituango, have brought the project’s progress to 93.24%.
The various recognitions the project received in 2024 for the actions carried out in environmental and social matters are also presented, positioning it as a project with the highest standards of sustainability, environmental management, social management, and governance.
Finally, progress is presented on the implementation of the actions taken in the area of influence to prevent, correct, mitigate, and offset the environmental and social impacts generated by the Project, as well as the actions taken within the framework of the Specific Action Plan (SAP) to overcome the contingency.
